Discover the hidden treasures of the ocean as our knowledgeable guides share the fascinating history of seaweed in Guernsey and its many uses in cosmetics, farming, cooking and the fashion industry. This is a hands on learning experience – we will be using seaweed moisturiser and you will have the opportunity to eat multiple types of fresh seaweed straight from the beach.

Ben founded Guernsey Seaweed in 2018 when he collected seaweed for use as a fertiliser and then, together with Luke Wheadon, created the world’s first seaweed hand sanitiser in 2020. The seaweed product range now extends into skincare and bath products, food seasonings and other edible treats.  We’re also experimenting with making vegan leather, plastics and rubber.

Ben assists seaweed organisations around the world with technical questions relating to biodiversity and sustainability.
